LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - A former Satanist has publically acknowledged the power of prayer to stop evil in its tracks.
Robert Ramirez was once a popular Satanist and a high priest of Palo Mayombe, which is a voodoo-like religion that traces its origins back to Africa and Cuba. Ramirez was so popular and influential he was called "Son of Lucifer." His religious practices included animal sacrifice.
Ramirez's life changed when he encountered a group of Christians holding hands, praying in a circle. While on an assignment, he encountered Christians who were praying against him and his mission. He felt the power of their prayers, explaining that their prayers chased him out of the neighborhood.
Shortly after, Ramirez met a young woman who invited him to her church and introduced him to her family. Ramirez began attending church regularly, and eventually, he came to Christ.
His conversion was brought about by the power of prayer.
Based on his experience, Ramirez warned that Christians who don't pray are most vulnerable. He has even written a book to help Christians learn how to conduct spiritual warfare.
Most Christians understand the power of prayer. It is found throughout the Bible.
We are spirits who inhabit human bodies for a time on this Earth, created in the image of God. We are called to commune with God through prayer and the Sacraments. When we do this we are whole, and we become fully capable of realizing the power which comes from the Holy Spirit.
For people like Ramirez, this realization can come as a surprise. This is why it is important for us to pray for those who are outside of God's grace, and who have fallen away. Through prayer and kind invitation, we can save many people, this is the work of the New Evangelization.
Let us pray.
