LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The wounds bled constantly but, miraculously, never became infected and smelled of roses.
St. Padre Pio passed away in 1968 at 81-years-old. His final words were, "I see two mothers," then, "Maria!"
He was buried on September 26 in a crypt of the Church of Our Lady of Grace. His relics were collected forty years after his death and kept in Italy.
The St. Pio Foundation proudly announced the Saint's relics will make two tours of the United States this year.
The first tour will begin May 6 and end May 21, while the second will be from September 17 through October 1.
In May, the relics will be on display at the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from the 6-8.
On the 9, they will be moved to the St. Paul Cathedral in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
May 13 will have the relics available for viewing at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in the Diocese of Lincoln.
May 18-19 will show them at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
St. Padre Pio's relics will be available for viewing at St. Anne Catholic Church in the Diocese of Arlington on May 20 and 21.

On September 24, the relics will be displayed at St. Theresa Catholic Church in the Diocese of Bridgeport and on September 29, they will be available for viewing at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption in the Diocese of Saginaw.
Additional locations and dates are to be announced soon.
The U.S. tour is in honor of St. Padre Pio's 130th birth anniversary and marks the fifteenth anniversary of his canonization.
All donations accepted during this tour will be used to build the Via Crucis in Pietrelcina, where Padre Pio received his first signs of the stigmata.
