We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this
Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The 60-second video features Pope Francis' narration as scenes of society ignoring people in need are displayed.
A young man shivers in the cold as people are frozen in place, walking from him and going about their day.
Pope Francis begins to speak and suddenly those people surround the man and offer him warmth, food and a hot drink.
"We live in cities that build skyscrapers and shopping centers and strike big real estate deals," the pontiff states. "But they abandon a part of themselves to marginal settlements on the periphery.
"The result of this situation is that great sections of the population are excluded and marginalized: without a job, without options, without a way out.
"Don't abandon them."
Pope Francis continues: "Pray with me for all those who are afflicted, especially the poor, refugees, and marginalized, may find welcome and comfort in our communities."
The video comes shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump decided to move forward with building a wall to physically separate the United States from Mexico and after he initiated a temporary immigration ban that has affected many refugees. Many have dubbed these acts as racist and hard-hearted.
Archbishop Angelo Becciu said Wednesday the Vatican was concerned with Trump's move.
"We are builders of bridges, far less of walls," he explained, "and all Christians should emphatically reaffirm this message."
