LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Metro UK reported Kuteh received several warnings for the "unwanted discussions" but she continued to speak of her faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ.
In response, Kuteh reported the subject is part of her job because she helps people fill out questionnaires that include a question about their religion.
One patient reported Kuteh gave her a Bible she didn't want and another claimed the nurse was "preaching" at her.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Kuteh said she has been a nurse for fifteen years - a career with an untimely end all because she asked patients if they wanted to pray with her before being wheeled into surgery.
Kuteh was let go in June, just a few days after discovering she had three complaints filed against her. She was told no stop assessing patients and was shocked when she was eventually fired, with security escorting her from the premises.
"It was embarrassing for me - and painful after all I had done in my years as a nurse," she shared. "I was told I couldn't even speak to my colleagues. All I had done was to nurse from my heart. How could it be harmful to tell someone about Jesus?"
Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust reported her attempts to speak to patients about Jesus upset them and, because she refused to stop, was guilty of behaving unprofessionally.
Kuteh admitted she often began such conversations if a patient failed to put anything in the box marked Religion, usually with her asking why and sharing how her faith helps her overcome the harshness of the world.
Though she often questioned why patients left the box empty, she said many times it was the patient who spoke first about their faith - she never spoke to anyone with the intention of imposing her beliefs on them.
She told the Mirror: "I discuss my religion with the patient and how I have found Jesus Christ and how much peace I have - especially when patients come to me feeling really, really devastated sometimes. I reassure them on the basis of the joy and peace I have found in the Lord."
When patients asked her to stop speaking about religion with them, she said she would just say, "okay" and move on.
Unfortunately, one of her reported "incidents" included a woman who claimed she felt Kuteh was "preaching" at her. Kuteh explained: "The next day I got a letter and it stated I could have discussions with the patient or if the patient asks for it.
"I'd always ask the patient if they were comfortable - and most of them were. I was investigated. I wasn't allowed to bring any witnesses at all so I couldn't really test the evidence. I have now lot my job - I have been dismissed since August. This has exposed me to financial poverty and possible homelessness.
"I want to challenge the decision because I believe it was very punitive action that was taken, due to the fact I have 15 years exemplary nursing.
"My colleagues say I am a brilliant nurse, that I brought a different flair to the unit. It's not just about physical care but about holistically looking at every aspect that involves that patient's care - and religion is one of them. How could telling anyone about Jesus Christ really be harmful to any patient?"
Kuteh is taking her case to an employee tribunal with help from the Christian Legal Center (CLC), which claims the disciplinary process was flawed because she was not shown the complaints from the start.
CLC stated: "We have a duty to our patients that when they are at their most vulnerable they are not exposed to unsolicited beliefs and/or views, religious or otherwise. Following several complaints from patients and a warning which did not result in any change in behavior, we feel we have acted appropriately in the management of this case."
Whether her case will be overturned remains to be seen.
Please pray for favor on behalf of Ms. Kuteh. Pray for an increase of blessings and protection as she fights for religious freedoms within the confines of her nursing duties.
