Research shows 98 percent of money donated to anti-life candidates.

High-ranking employees of Catholic Relief Services are supporting anti-life candidates. This revelation comes from the Lepanto Institute, a small Catholic fact-finding mission. Research from the Institute shows that 98 percent of the political donations made by CRS leaders is going to pro-abortion candidates.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - As Catholics, we are expected to practice what we preach. We are obligated to live in accord with the teaching of the Church. So why are ranking leaders of Catholic Relief Services donating to pro-abortion candidates?

Catholic Relief Services is the charitable arm of the American bishops of the Church. The agency itself is sworn to uphold and follow the teaching of the Church. But its leaders appear to be doing something else.

According to Michael Hichborn, 98 percent of CRS employee political donations go to candidates and organizations that support abortion. The figures he has acquired also show donations given to "Emily's List," an organization dedicated to advancing anti-life candidates.

Hichborn did his research by visiting opensecrets.com, which reveals who and how much people have been donating. The records are public.

Hichborn explained that in general, Catholics donate evenly between conservative and liberal causes. But a closer look at CRS shows virtually all of those donations go to anti-life candidates and agencies. Isn't that strange, given their stated mission?

Do these people make a Catholic fifth column? It's certainly upsetting.

As private citizens, these individuals may do as they please within the limits of the law. However, as Catholics, and especially as leaders of an organization that serves the bishops, they ought to be bound to moral and ethical standards and taught by the Church. Is there a morality clause in their contracts? And does that clause support life?

Hichborn's findings are listed below.
