'It would be a sin to sell to her.'

Famed singer Katy Perry, best known for songs such as "I Kissed a Girl," "Peacock" and "Ur So Gay," is one step closer to owning a convent.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary decided to sell their convent to restaurateur Dana Hollister for $15.5 million.

Unfortunately for the nuns, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Bowick ruled the selling was unauthorized - a ruling the Los Angeles Archdiocese agreed with.

Hollister recorded a deed for the Roman villa-style convent and its adjoining house of prayer. She planned to renovate the convent and turn it into a boutique hotel until the ruling forced her out.

Meanwhile, Perry's bid was met with approval by the LA Archbishop and still needs to be approved by the Vatican.

"It would be a sin to sell to her," Sister Catherine Rose Holzman told BBC.

Sister Rita Callanan stated, "I found Katy Perry and I found her videos and... if it's all right to say, I wasn't happy with any of it."

Sister Catherine Rose Holzman told Billboard, "Katy Perry represents everything we don't believe in."

Sister Holzman did some more digging online and was appalled to find an interview in which Perry joked, "[I] sold my soul to the devil."

Despite the nuns' disapproval, Perry appeared in court dressed conservatively and sang "Oh Happy Day" for them. As extra incentive to sell to her, Perry also pointed out a Jesus tattoo she has on her wrist.

The Sisters' lawyer, John Scholnick, admitted he is considering an appeal and stated, "it's still game on."

Meanwhile, Katy Perry has offered the nuns $14.5 million in cash and is willing to relocate the house of prayer.
