LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - From losing his temper to delivering a beautiful homily on the Texas-Mexico border, Pope Francis has not failed to keep us both entertained and enlightened.

During his trip to Mexico, several historic events took place, but the fun can be found in the details.

There has been media coverage over the pontiff's South American trip, but did you notice these twelve details?

  • Pope Francis used a cedar crosier during his San Cristóbal de las Casas Mass.
  • "Pescador de Hombres," meaning "Fishers of Men," was sung to the pontiff as he entered the San Cristóbal de las Casas cathedral. The song was actually one of Saint John Paul II's favorites!
  • Following his speech at the United States and Mexico border, Pope Francis offered a silent, three-minute prayer along the border and blessed a large cross that was erected in memorial of those who lost their lives when they attempted to cross into America.
  • The disabled person the pontiff fell on was not upset about the incident. In fact, if you look closely, the wheelchair-bound man can be seen wrapping an arm around the Pope!
  • During one of his homilies, Pope Francis' white zucchetto lifted from his head. Luckily, Msgr. Guido Marini was able to retrieve the runaway skullcap and was able to return it.
  • The pontiff was given gifts usually reserved for "beloved persons" - a "staff of office," a crown and a flower necklace made with flowers whose petals were yellow and white, in accordance to the Vatican's colors.

  • An image of the Pope was created using flowers on the lawn outside the Angel of Independence Monument in Mexico City.
  • Though artist Pedro Francisco Rodriguez did not expect much help, he set donation boxes along the streets of Juárez, Mexico so people could donate bronze items for his Pope Francis sculpture. In response, millions of keys have been donated to be melted down and used to cast a larger-than-life version of His Holiness.
  • When the pontiff celebrated Mass in Ecatepec, he brought God to a place known as a predator's paradise.
  • A pre-Columbian ritual dance was performed for the pontiff following Communion in Chiapas. The dance is an old tradition that has been accepted in the liturgy.
