'...God placed Glenn in my path for a reason...'

Sofia Andrade, a single mother of three, won $200 in a scratch-off lottery ticket on Sunday, but noticed a homeless man and made a decision most others would not have even considered.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Andrade noticed the homeless man, Glenn Williams, shivering in -8 degree weather with a sign reading, "Anything Would Help."

She called him over to her car and took him to Dunkin Donuts, where she purchased a hot cup of coffee for him.

"I knew the money never really belonged to me," she told WCVB. "This money was meant to help him."

She then purchased a two-day stay at a motel room for Williams, who admitted he "couldn't stop crying."

After setting Williams up in the motel, Andrade took to Facebook to raise awareness of his situation and, in a further act of kindness, Andrade created a GoFundMe account with a $5,000 goal.

She explained on the page that Williams has been homeless for three years and has been sleeping outside in a sleeping bag.

"I'm hoping that we as a community can come together and give this man a second chance. Please anything [sic] can and would help. Thank you all and God bless," she wrote.

Of the $5,000 goal, $11,420 has been donated with more donations pouring in every minute.
Many locals responded, one of whom is a barber and gave Williams a haircut, another person donated warm weather gear and a child made him a Valentine's Day card.

The card read, "Know that you are loved this Valentine's Day!"

"There's a lot of good people in this world," Williams said. "I'm overwhelmed with all the help, and I just want to thank everybody.

In regards to Andrade, Williams admitted, "I couldn't believe there's somebody like her. She deserves a lot of the credit for where I am right now."
