'I started going through them, and it was so impactful.'

Willie Morris was raised in the Catholic Church, but when he went away to college everything changed. He was faced with ugly faith-based situations, which led him to an Atheist lifestyle -until God used thank you letters to lead Morris back to the Faith.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - In a Church Boys podcast, Morris shared how he witnessed "heavy-handedness" in the faith, which rubbed him the wrong way.

"Instead of kind of exploring and really going deep in it, I kind of slowly phased out going to church and phased out God in my life," Morris admitted. "Before I knew it, I was just really a person without any faith or without Christ in my life."

Following graduation, Morris landed a job with a design firm. His client, a nonprofit disaster relief organization, was busy helping people affected by the 2011 Joplin tornado.

"There was a series of natural disasters that hit that were just devastating," Morris explained. "And they ended up mobilizing and getting on the ground there really quick."

After helping the organization, Morris was helping with blog and social media management when he noticed a large bag of thank you notes from families the group helped. He was asked to read a few, so he grabbed the bag and took it home, where he started reading.

"I started going through them, and it was so impactful," he said, adding his heart was touched and he was brought to tears by each letter. "[It was] one of those times in my life that I'll never forget."

The letters spoke of thankfulness, not only to the organization, but to God as well. The perseverance and thankfulness resonated with Morris, who said: "People who literally lost everything still being so thankful and so gracious and a lot of them were thanking God in their letters, [saying] 'Thank God he brought you guys to us.'

"It just really got to me and it kind of just made me take a step back in my life and be like, 'What am I doing? I've turned my back on my faith and yet these people that have nothing have so much of it.'"

The letters prompted Morris to embark on a spiritual journey that led him to question how he allowed God to slip away, as well as how to rejoin the Faith.

In what can only be described as an act of God, Morris was led to create Faithbox, a service that ships monthly boxes with products from different companies that "have a net positive impact on the world." The boxes also contain devotionals and other Christian-related content.

As an added act of kindness, each box purchased also feeds a child in need. The website adds, "many of our products are from companies who match our purchases with an equivalent donation to a worthy cause."
