ZERO DOUBT - Our Lady of Guadalupe has interceded to protect Mexico from Hurricane Patricia
FREE Catholic Classes
Hurricane Patricia has come and gone, and despite being the most powerful storm in recorded history, it appears the storm produced few, if any fatalities. It is impossible to deny that some form of intercession must have been at work to protect the people of Mexico during this disaster.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Last week's news of hurricane Patricia was met with grave concern or the people of Mexico in the newsrooms at Catholic Online. It was clear to all of us that many lives would be lost. Consider for example that a category 3 storm can produce casualties in the United States, and the impact of a category 5 (theoretically a 6!) storm on the less-developed parts of Mexico is easy to imagine.
Several staff prayed for Mexico, and the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe was asked. At the same time, we inquired of other departments and an increase in prayer requests from Mexico and the United States was conspicuous, despite the fact that Catholic Online is primarily still and English publication. Prayer requests in the name of Our Lady of Guadalupe also came in by email.
Officially, the death toll from Patricia has been reported at 13, with five of those casualties being indirect -that is unrelated to the actual storm itself. There is also dispute over those numbers and there are claims that none died as a result of the storm. We are having trouble verifying the veracity of claims in either direction.
Regardless, this was a tremendously powerful storm and it wrought havoc across Mexico. Therefore, the surprise is universal. The storm slammed into millions of people, and killed few, if any at all.
Science cannot explain this miracle, for that is what this is. Lesser storms produce greater casualties. The math, in this case, simply does not compute.
Nor can we explain why intercession via Our Lady of Guadalupe would have been more powerful than intercession we've asked, and seen asked for other countries and their people. We can only suggest that God, in His infinite wisdom, has His way. He has heard our petitions, and we have absolutely ZERO DOUBT that He has heard Our Lady of Guadalupe's intercession and heeded it. It is simply impossible to deny.
So today, we pause and we pray for those few (if any!) whose lives were lost, and we pray for those who must recover from this disaster. However, we also fall to our knees in absolute awe and thanksgiving, especially to Our Lady of Guadalupe, who has save thousands of lives under the protection of her mantle.
It's difficult not to feel emotional when whispering these praises to Our Lady.
We hope you will join us with a prayer of thanksgiving. Please offer it in the privacy of your home, or in Mass. You are encouraged to light a candle of thanks and offer it to Our Lady of Guadalupe, who has not abandoned us.
If you are devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe, be reminded we offer many products that will allow your to share and express your devotion to her. Please remember that your purchases support our Catholic mission and projects that we undertake for honor of Our Lady, the Mother of God, the Glory of Jesus Christ, and God, our Father.
WE LOVE YOU, OUR LADY!
