LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Crosswalk.com published a list of ways to conquer "soul-crushing" rejection, which got us thinking about ways to overcome the tumultuous emotions that try to overwhelm us.

Though everyone deals with rejection in their own way and in their own time, here are some ways to help deal:

1. Never assume the worst

Remember what "they" say about people who assume!

For those of you who don't remember, let's just say that most of the time assumptions are wrong. Thinking positively is the best thing you can do when you get rejected.

2. Turn to the Bible

Who knows more about rejection than God?

Seriously, who? With millions across the globe refusing to accept the idea that He even exists sort of gives God the right to talk about rejection. In His Word, you can find helpful scriptures to help you deal with emotional downs. A few good examples are:

Psalm 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.

1 Peter 5:6-7Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

and Romans 15:13Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

3. Breathe

Sometimes taking a minute to collect yourself can make all the difference. Negative emotins cause stress, which in turn leads to more serious conditions of the heart and mind. While you stand there, reminding yourself to breathe, let the darkness threatening to immerse you in its inky depression fade away by returning to steps one and two.
Breathe, collect your thoughts, think positively and recite a Bible verse to yourself until you no longer have to force yourself to breathe. You can do it. It's tough, but God never lets us encounter problems we can't handle.

4. Let Go
It's as simple as letting go! ...NOT!
Everyone knows you can't simply let something go because you know you should. This is why "letting go" is the last item on the list. If you can make it a habit to think positively, turn to the Scripture and breathe, eventually you will reach a point where letting go happens on its own.
The best way to "let go" is to forgive whoever wronged you and also to forgive yourself. Once you forgive the situation, you will be able to move forward.
No one said dealing with rejection is easy, but hopefully our list today can be of some help in the future. What do you do to deal? Tell us in the comments below. Don't forget to check out what the Bible has to say about encouragement, giving, anger, and love.
