Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. The Face of Young Jesus: Italian police believe they have uncovered Jesus Christ's appearance as a young boy
FREE Catholic Classes
Using the relic Turin Shroud and computer forensics, Italian police claim they were able to generate a photo of Jesus Christ when he was a young boy. According to the Independent UK, this detective method used what the Italian police use when chasing longtime law offenders. Effectively, this technique was used to capture Mafia boss Bernardo Provenzano.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Provenzano's photo was taken in 1959 and his arrest was made 2006 with the help of the generated image tracking on what he would look like over the years of the chase.
With generating young Jesus' face, the Italian police derived a negative image of the face from the relic, then applied the technique in reverse -- reducing the size of the jaw, raising the chin and straightening the nose, as cited in the report.
The young Jesus' image creation and methods used will be discussed as a topic on an upcoming Italian TV program. However, some are skeptical of the image despite the effectiveness of the police technique.
Some critics argue that even though the Turin Shroud image is consistent with the wounds from crucifixion, the carbon dating done in the relic show inconsistencies with the time. The image on the Shroud was approximately made between 1260 and 1390, suggesting the ancient relic is fake.
Many believers disagree on the scientific proposition, saying they could have committed error by testing the "modern inserts" on the ancient herring-bone linen cloth. Others defended the Turin Shroud stating that the pollen grains found in the cloth were from plants only to be found in the Holy Land.
However, a team of experts last month exhibited that the bloodstain from the relic is not the same as it would have been after crucifixion.
