LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Those attending will learn "how to use Catholic social teaching as a modern tool to apply the Gospel's ancient teachings to the life and death issues facing humanity," according to one of the keynote speakers and longtime Catholic Online contributor, Tony Magliano.

An internationally syndicated columnist and speaker, Magliano will highlight the "prophetic baptismal call given to every Christian: to transform society's structures of sin which oppress the poor and vulnerable, into structures of justice, love and peace."

"Our world is in desperate need of the love, social justice and peace which only Christ can give. But Christ is calling us to be his instruments of love, social justice and peace," explained Magliano in an interview with Catholic Online. "St. Teresa of Avila said it so beautifully, 'Christ has no body now on earth but yours: Yours are the only hands, with which he can do his work. Yours are the only feet, with which he can go about the world. Yours are the only eyes, through which his compassion can shine forth upon a troubled world. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.'"

During his keynote address, titled "Advancing the Kingdom of God in the 21st Century," Magliano expresses how important it is love one another.

"I am trying to follow and help others to follow Jesus' new commandment to love one another as he has loved us, and as he continues to show his tremendous unconditional love for us," he explained. "While walking the earth, Jesus especially cared for the vulnerable, poor and outcasts  of society. And as faithful disciples, so must we."

Other speakers for the event include, Susan Patterson, who will address human trafficking and Sr. Eileen McNerney, who will discuss immigration.
