LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- Scientists have found that belief in God can help prevent, and manage, type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is preventable, but it requires healthy eating and careful weight management. Sufferers from type 2 diabetes can suffer kidney failure, blindness, leg amputation, and even heart failure.
So how does belief in God help suffers from type 2 diabetes? People who believe in God are more likely to eat healthier. This is possibly because of the Christian belief that the body is a temple that ought to be maintained. It is also more likely for Christians to be married, which means meals are often planned and taken together. Planning meals means healthier eating.
Critics have already attacked the report, saying it is based on too small a sample; the survey covered 87 couples.
However, the results of the survey make sense. People who plan meals together and eat together tend to eat healthier.
However, people who believe in God and abide by Biblical teachings often enjoy better health. The Bible contains many instructions for people and how they ought to practice hygiene and prepare food while avoiding others, and how they ought to live in general.
In more modern times, we have learned about why these rules exist, and many seem related to the presence of microbes and parasites. Uneven cooking methods made some foods especially dangerous. We know this today, but the ancient world did not. How is it possible the Bible taught people how to live, and eat, and stay healthy in spite of the lack of knowledge about microorganisms, sanitation, and cooking?
The only possible answer is that our creator understood, and imparted this wisdom via sacred scripture.
Further studies will need to be performed to support the finding that belief in God helps with type 2 diabetes, but we can already guess the outcome. It makes perfect logical sense, that a person who believe in God, follows Biblical teaching, and takes meals with their spouse will live longer and happier life than someone who does not.
