LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Reports of the ever-spreading Zika virus continue as scientists struggle to combat it.
Health organizations such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) have been fighting rumors that Zika has a vaccine and a cure - neither of which are accurate.
As an increase of Guillain-Barré Syndrome and sexually transmitted cases of the virus crop up, more and more people become infected.A recent Harvard study revealed a shocking number of Americans are ignorant of how Zika is contracted and spread.
With new reports coming in each day on the virus, it comes as quite a surprise anyone in developed countries can be unaware of the Zika virus. The number of infected countries continues to grow, with each new location rich with populations near standing water, no mosquito repellent and plenty of pregnant women.
The CDC has provided information on how to prevent Zika, offers a comprehensive explanation on the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment and has special instructions and information for pregnant women.
The information provided by the CDC is updated as often as medical and science reports come in. To keep yourself up-to-date with the most accurate and recent Zika activity, just click here.
