Teenage girl dies from cardiac arrest during wisdom teeth removal.

Sydney Galleger's family was left with no answers after the 17-year-old went into cardiac arrest during a wisdom tooth extraction.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - During a routine oral surgery last June, Galleger's blood pressure spiked and her pulse dropped, prompting her dentist to perform CPR before transferring her to the hospital where she later died.

After Sydney suffered cardiac arrest, she was transported to the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital and was placed on a ventilator to help her breathe. However, she suffered a number of seizures and swelling in the brain. The 17-year old underwent surgery to relieve the swelling but draining wasn't enough.

Her brain continued to swell, forcing doctors informed her family that there was nothing more they could do.

Sydney's mother, Diane, was deeply saddened at the thought that they may never know exactly what led to the extreme reaction that caused her daughter's death.

Autopsy reports on Thursday still don't have answers for the Galleger family following the mysterious cause-of-death for the teen.

According to The Daily Mail, medical examiners were not able to rule out the "potential contributing role" of a medication she was given during the oral surgery.

While Diane said she would not be filing a lawsuit against the dentist or his practice, she will still search for answers.

"We just wanted God to give us something, give us an answer why our healthy, happy daughter is no longer with us," Diane wrote on the CaringBridge.org page they used for updates on Sydney's case.

"We were just hoping for an answer. Could she have had a slight reaction to the medications causing everything to misfire? Unlikely, but we will never know. We just wanted God to give us something, give us an answer why our healthy, happy daughter is no longer with us."
