MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - You should be shampooomg your scalp directly, with little attention to the ends of your hair. According to Andrew Barton from the Urban Retreat at Harrods, shampooing the scalp is important while doing it on the ends is not necessary. As you rinse the top, it moves down to the length and the ends.
This Lent, are you doing good? Give something today --
Although we must focus on the scalp, rubbing the shampoo in with too much pressure is wrong; it will just make the sebaceous glands produce more oil, he said.
Use tepid water, never the hot.
Some women believe that using hot water will make their hair cleaner, but Barton explains it makes the sebaceous glands more active making hair greasy just a few moments after wash. Using tepid water is observed to be better for hair follicles.
By rinsing your hair twice the amount of time used for lathering it with shampoo, you will help clean the hair better, according to stylists.
Shampoo is not enough.
Barton describes taking care of the hair like taking care of the skin - exfoliation would help the scalp and hair breathe. He is also a believer that there are essential treatments that should be done, and you should even get a hacial - the facial for hair.
Avoid towel drying. We may all be guilty of this but according to Issie Churcher, HOB Salons' Creative Colour Director, "When drying, avoid rubbing with towels, this creates friction and can damage the cuticle leaving hair dull and lifeless, blot dry instead to prevent damage."
