Friday, February 22, 2008: When you are faced with the ingratitude of people who have betrayed and falsely accused you, what hurts most is the irrational malice that pours out of those whom you least expect it. In such circumstances this should be your reaction: to forgive from the heart, to beg for God's forgiveness for your enemies, and to pray with love for their conversion. In this way you will not need to rely on the consolation of the world. Saturday, February 23, 2008: In all your activities and struggles, try to discern how to act by asking yourself: How much desire do I have to do God's will? And how much desire to fulfill your own will, to seek personal advantage, or to satisfy self-love? Perhaps you will find very little of God in your endeavors. Do not easily say, "I follow my conscience." Are you sure of the conscience you follow? Sunday, February 24, 2008: To spend the whole day in church does not necessarily make you holy if at the same time you continue to criticize others, to react according to the wisdom of "the world," or to be self-centered. The apostles John and James were with Jesus often, yet he had to rebuke them (cf. Lk 9:55)
