We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - A Christmas full moon is the perfect opportunity for parents to create beautiful memories with their kids and maybe even snap a few pictures in hopes of capturing Santa Claus flying through the night sky!

Slooh, a space observation website, posted a press release in which it wrote, "It's the perfect opportunity to keep an eye on the sky for old Saint Nick."

The full moon will be the first to appear on Christmas since 1977 and the next is not due until 2034.

According to NASA, the moon is called a "Full Cold Moon" because "it occurs during the beginning of winter" and will peak on Christmas eve.

John Keller, of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, said: "As we look at the moon on such an occasion, it's worth remembering that the moon is more than just a celestial neighbor.

"The geological history of the moon and Earth are intimately tied together such that the Earth would be a dramatically different planet without the moon."

The Full Cold Moon comes at the conclusion of an exciting celestial year.

In September, we experienced a Blood Moon, Russia once again declared it was planning to build a permanent moon base, dwarf planet Ceres was discovered to have a "pyramid-shaped structure," liquid water was reported on Mars by Curiosity and much more.
