Little girl looking Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. New report indicates how many Americans are working for Chinese gain.

China has been purchasing major American companies, resulting in nearly 100,000 U.S. citizens working to support the Chinese economy.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - State-owned companies and those closely-related to the Chinese government are responsible for the continued purchase of American jobs.

According to the China Investment Monitor, China has spent over $100 billion since 2000 to purchase or significantly invest in 1,900 US companies.

During the first quarter of 2016, China showed $30 billion in pending and completed deals and are responsible for nearly 100,000 American jobs.

While Americans work hard for their pay, they put more money in Chinese pockets.

Christ Brewster, a Washington lawyer with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, which represents firms looking to purchase American companies, explained: "As China becomes more and more invested in the United States, it has a bigger and bigger stake in the success of the American economy, so that creates a shared interest.

"At the same time, plainly these investments can present national security considerations for the United States."

The national security concerns center around only a few small companies purchased by China, run by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

Thilo Hanemann, an economist, explained the benefits of the trade, regardless of the few points of national security: "Chinese companies are now coming to us, setting up facilities here and bringing jobs back to the United States that those workers have lost to China."

In China, the consumers are able to benefit from more quality food shipments - but are these mutual benefits worth possible threats to our national security?

Until something goes horribly wrong, we will never know.

According to Fortune, and USA Today, the following list includes the larger U.S. firms acquired or soon-to-be purchased by a Chinese company:

  • General Electric Appliance Business
  • Starwood Hotels
  • Smithfield Foods
  • Ingram Micro
  • AMC Entertainment Holdings
  • Legendary Entertainment Group
  • Terex Corp.
  • Motorola Mobility
  • Fairchild Semiconductor
  • Activision Blizzard
  • Waldorf Astoria New York
