Little girl looking Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you. Help Now >

Supports the local diocese where the tea is grown

Crossings Tea announces the release of its Chinese black, green, and jasmine tea. From the remote Three Gorges region of Central China, Crossings Tea has pure and refined flavors that capture the essence of classical Chinese tea. The company supports the local Yichang Diocese, where all the tea is grown and blessed by a local priest.

Father Li Xiaoguo, vicar general, fully embraces the mission. "Our tea mission is a great way to evangelize in China," he says, "and we pray for the health and wellbeing of all Crossings Tea customers." As his diocese is one of the smallest and poorest in China, Father Li is thankful, saying, "The support of American Catholics and friends truly inspires us."

The China Black Tea is light and mellow, with natural honey overtones. The Green Tea is soft and smooth, with hints of roasted chestnut. The Jasmine Tea is a mild green tea with jasmine blossoms, balancing rich fragrance and subtle sweetness. Available only on the Crossings Tea web site, the tea is sold in boxes of 20 individually wrapped tea bags.

John Smagula, owner and founder of Crossings Tea, is a former Wall Street lawyer with extensive work experience in China. He is also a Certified Tea Specialist. "It's a tremendous blessing to personally and spiritually connect with Catholic tea farmers," he said, "and we all pray this mission will build the faith in this underserved region." Local priests regularly travel with John throughout the diocese to administer sacraments, pray for those in need, and lead faith-sharing sessions.
