There is a thought in modern day society that "newer is better". To some extent, that is true.

Who does not appreciate plumbing, sanitation, refrigeration, modern construction and transportation? And then of course there are electronics. We can instantly connect instead of writing a letter, waiting a week for the letter to get to the recipient, and then waiting another week (or more) for a reply.
In the midst of all these conveniences, we must not forget that there is one pathway that, regardless of how old it is, we should never discard. That is the pathway of seeking God in prayer. When things in life are easy and at our fingertips, the temptation is to do more of "them". We can call or text more people, we can make more posts on social media, we can drive more places, and we can go to more events. We can do "more" of many things and if we are not careful, we can consume all of our time with the blessings of modern technology.
Thus saith the LORD: Stand ye in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, Where is the good way, and walk therein, And ye shall find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6:16a JPS Tanakh 1917
The one thing modern conveniences won't do is feed our souls. That comes by spending quiet time with the Lord, by seeking him, by putting Him first and by obeying the promptings that we receive.
But they said: 'We will not walk therein.' Jeremiah 6:16b JPS Tanakh 1917
If all we want are the blessings from God, the modern day conveniences, the "witty inventions" that the Lord has given to mankind, if that is all we want, we can lose out. This may become our situation.
And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. Psalm 106:15 KJV
Especially now, with so much going on in the world that requires prayer from the church, it is a good time to "ask for the old paths" and return to them.
