We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

Commit Your Way to the Lord; Trust That He will Act

Life is chock-full of surprises; some are blessings, while others may be challenges. Our friend's son and his wife just learned yesterday that they are facing a serious medical challenge. He was just diagnosed yesterday with an aggressive melanoma, just days before the birth of their 2nd baby. In our humanness, it is very easy to become swept away by life's difficulties and challenges, even to the point of despair. But consider this:

'Commit your way to the Lord, trust that He will act...Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.'
Psalm 37:5-7

LOS ANGELES, CA - When life gets hard, it is easy to forget that God is in control. Yet the Bible advises us to pray, then wait and trust that God will act on our behalf in His own special time and way. Though it may be very tempting, there is no need to take back what we have given to God to work out for good. In fact, it is counter productive. Rather, we must find the strength to pray confidently and fervently for whatever we need, and trust that God will act. Some think God is far away and quite removed from our daily happenings, yet God tells us again and again through Scripture. 'Be Not Afraid, I am with You! Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.' Isaiah 41:10

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God has sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to reside with us in both joyous times and in difficult times. The Great Healer, Protector, Comforter, Protector, and Savior, Jesus is not standing in the distance, but actually with all who call upon His holy name in earnest. Our job is to pray and recognize His unmatched power and presence, and to wait for Him to intercede on their behalf in the most practical ways.

In the case of my friend's son and his pregnant wife, I believe that Jesus is with them, strengthening them and giving them the courage to face the cancer head-on. Most of all, I am eager to see what the Lord will do next on their behalf in answer to fervent prayer. For I believe in both praying expectantly, and in watching for subsequent miracles that come into bloom. In actuality, at such times, there is no need to worry, but it is vitally important to believe in God's grace and the healing power of prayer. God has a plan here with my friend's lives and in your life, as well. A plan to prosper, not for woe. Patience is a virtue, and a necessity in the Christian life; and never is it more necessary than while waiting for God to answer heartfelt prayers.
