LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Motive Entertainment announces the launch of MILITARY MOVIE NIGHT, a nationwide program to recognize the military with a trip to the movie theater, starting with the much-anticipated film There Be Dragons, directed by Roland Joffe (The Mission) and based on the life of Saint Josemaria Escriva.
MILITARY MOVIE NIGHT will take place in major markets nationwide on opening weekend (Friday, May 6 through Sunday, May 8), where US military and their families can receive tickets to
showings of There Be Dragons at their local theater.
Free tickets are being set aside through contributions from several generous donors who believe the film's admirable themes of duty, honor, and commitment are best exemplified by those who serve in and support the US Armed Forces.
Tickets have also become available due in large part to the grassroots swell of theater buyouts across the country. To date, over 300 movie screens have been purchased by private individuals across the US.
"Military Movie Night is a wonderful program that recognizes not only the serviceman or woman who sacrifices for our country, but their families too. This is a great way to give back to our brave members of the military and thank them for tremendous commitment and dedication to our nation," said retired brigadier general John A. Nicholson.
According to Timothy Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, USA in Washington, DC, the film's dialogue was powerful and captures the tension of living and giving witness to the faith in the face of adversity and persecution. "The life of St. Josemaria Escriva has much to teach us in our times," he said.
"The movie dramatically depicts the magnanimity of St. Josemaria Escriva, his courage and trust in God, and his ability to forgive in the face of persecution and the brutality of civil war. A must see for military families raising children in today's world", said retired colonel Charles Gallina, USMC.
"It is our pleasure to provide an opportunity for our brave and dedicated servicemen and women to spend some quality time with family members," said Paul Lauer, president of Motive Entertainment. "This is a great way to recognize their hard work and personal sacrifice to protect and defend our country."
Details about how to reserve free movie tickets, as well as local theater times, dates, and locations can be found at www.MilitaryMovieNight.com. Tickets are limited and are available only on a first-come, first-served basis.

About the movie:
From Academy Award nominated director, Roland Joffe (The Mission and The Killing Fields), There Be Dragons is a powerful story of war, tragedy, love, and redemption. Set during the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War (early 1900s), There Be Dragons tells the story of two childhood friends who find themselves on opposite sides as war erupts. One chooses the path of priest and the other took the role of soldier. One sought to unite, the other was driven by anger and revenge. Each will struggle to find the power of forgiveness over the forces that tore their lives and friendship apart.
Wes Bentley (American Beauty) leads a terrific ensemble that includes Charlie Cox (Stardust), Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), Emmy Award-winning Derek Jacobi (The King's Speech), Dougray Scott (Mission Impossible II) and Rodrigo Santoro (300).
The release of the film is accompanied by a major grassroots campaign conducted by Motive Entertainment, the company that championed films like Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ and Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia.
