Parents guide to new movie releases

The Orlando Sentinel (MCT) - BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA

Rating: PG for some mild thematic elements.

What it's about: An obscenely pampered pooch is dognapped in Mexico and must make her way back to Beverly Hills.

The kid attractor factor: Talking dogs of every stripe.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Size doesn't matter when you're "tiny but mighty," and don't judge a Mexican by his appearance.

Violence: Slapstick stuff, and the threat of dog fights.

Language: Disney clean.

Sex: Chihuahua flirtation, Beverly Hills babes in bikinis.

Drugs: None, though there's bar hopping.

Parents' advisory: Surprisingly inoffensive, considering its setting, with a few nice messages about tolerance and judging people and dogs hastily. Suitable for all ages.

NICK AND NORAH'S INFINITE PLAYLIST

Rating: PG-13 for mature thematic material including teen drinking, sexuality, language and crude behavior.

What it's about: A just-dumped musician and a Manhattan teen spend a magical night hunting for an underground concert and searching for a lost, drunken friend.

The kid attractor factor: Kat Dennings and Michael Cera, grungy clubs, the romance of New York at night when you're too young to know better.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Getting drunk will cause you to do the stupidest, grossest, most irresponsible things, and be a real inconvenience to your friends.

Violence: A punch is thrown, a head is butted.

Language: Profanity.

Sex: Heavy petting.

Drugs: One teen gets truly trashed and others deal with the consequences.

Parents' advisory: It's PG-13, and is simply not appropriate for that age and younger. Older teens will dig it, and parents have nothing to fear from its safe sex/don't drink messages.
