In today's Gospel the boat which Jesus and the disciples were in was buffeted by the waves. This is symbolic of the waves of persecution against the Church and how the Martyr's blood is the remedy to this evil as exemplified by St. Raymond Lull as well as the Roman Martyrs whose feast we celebrate today.
