I am a monk of the desert. Robbers periodically stole my meager rations of
bread. I grew tired of it, and ordered two huge serpents to guard my food and
cell. Robbers saw this, and became paralyzed. I cured them, explaining the
goodness of God. They repented, and became even more virtuous, presenting in
the glory of God signs and wonders. Another large serpent continually molested
and killed nearby villagers. They asked for help. In God's mercy, I prayed
before the serpents abode. It rushed me and burst
