California set for a tidal wave of gay-fad marriages

California's Prop 8, the ballot initiative that made explicit in state law that marriage was between one man and one woman, is dead. Wednesday's Supreme Court ruling has now opened the floodgates for a wave of gay marriages across the state.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - And that is what they will be called, "marriages." Despite the glaringly obvious, Orwellian twist of redefinition, marriage is now redefined, in the civil law, to include same-sex couples.

This redefinition has occurred to placate a small, but vocal and organized minority, despite the mandates of Natural Law and reason.

State Governor Jerry Brown has already issued an executive order, telling state officials to resume the issue of same-sex marriage licenses, which will take effect towards the end of July.

At this time, counties must now gear-up to handle the flood of requests for gay marriages as those who deal with same-sex attraction join the bandwagon movement of gay marriage. Of course, the result will be disastrous.

Surely, some gay couples will live long, quiet and contented lives, as many married couples have done throughout all human history, but they will be an exception. Now there will be a wave of fad marriages to be followed by a wave of gay divorces as those who struggle with same-sex attraction realize that a "legitimate marriage" does not make them any more whole than any other secular placebo.

Meanwhile, the ripple effects of this decision may continue for decades.

For example, homosexual couples will now be permitted to adopt children, forcing Christian and moral charitable organizations that manage orphanages to place children with these couples on demand or face closure. This has already happened in Illinois.

Marriage itself has become pliable, a workable definition that was once a cornerstone of society. Now, that foundation, once stone, is now flexible, in civil law. Today it's marriage licenses. What will we license tomorrow?

Many have compared moral opposition to homosexual marriage to laws that restricted interracial marriages during the segregation era in the United States. However, there is a key difference. Race is determined by DNA, and cannot be altered. Race isn't a choice. However, homosexual acts are.

Even if sexual attraction is pre-programmed, or conditioned in early childhood, much like other appetites and preferences, a choice is still required before one engages in sexually immoral activity. This is a behavior, which places it within the realm of choice.

We now have individuals encouraged by society to "experiment" with and engage in immoral and irresponsible sexual behavior, and to then enshrine their deviance in these new 'marriages'.

Our society already struggles with sexual immorality. Sexual activity before marriage has become increasingly noramtive between heterosexual couples and it has brought a myriad of ills to our society, including the pervasive use of contraceptives, abortifacients, and the horrifying practice of procured abortion, which kills children and endangers mothers.

Now to this we shall add same-sex immorality, and place such behavior on a legal pedestal. The topic will be introduced in schools, it will be treated as acceptable and normal, and our children will think nothing wrong of growing as natives of the city of Sodom.

We have not granted legal recognition to homosexual couples as much as we have undermined the foundation of society - a foundation that has always existed since the beginning of civilization.

Welcome to the Brave New World. Rainbows today, but nightmares tomorrow.

Wait and see.
