The National Archives in Washington have yielded up more records detailing the activities of Abraham Lincoln when he was a congressman. The Springfield-based Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum announced the find on Thursday.

CHICAGO, IL (Catholic Online) - The young Abraham Lincoln's records include official pay and mileage accounts which show how much he was paid and reimbursed for travel while serving as a member of Congress in 1848.

According to the entries, Lincoln received $2,000 in salary for the period of January - August of 1848 and picked up another check for $1,300 for travel expenses.

The records will provide another data point to historians about the Congressional career of the future 16th president.
