Gov. Jan Brewer Signs Law: Arizona Bans Funding for Planned Parenthood
The Susan B Anthony List is to be commended for their good work
Our positive law has rejected the Natural Law Right to Life and its prohibition against these intentional homicides committed against our youngest neighbors through procured abortions. Until the positive law is changed to reflect the truth, our tax dollars must no longer be used to engage in this evil. We must defund Planned Parenthood now! We commend Governor Jan Brewer for signing the "Whole Woman's Health Funding Priority Act.' This is a victory for life and truth.
Governor Jan Brewer signing legislation
PHOENIX, AZ (Catholic Online) - We are happy to report that Governor Jan Brewer has signed into Law Arizona House Bill 2800 known as the "Whole Woman's Health Funding Priority Act". The Governor signed the measure into law while speaking at a reception for the "Susan B. Anthony List" in Phoenix. This genuinely Pro-Woman - and therefore Pro-Life - organization is led with courage and competence by Marjorie Dannenfelser.
The list says of its own efforts that it "works in the spirit and tradition of the original suffragettes. Susan B. Anthony herself called abortion "child murder." Alice Paul, author of the original 1923 Equal Rights Amendment, reportedly said the early feminists believed that "Abortion is the ultimate exploitation of women." Modern feminist Patricia Heaton echoes this theme, saying, "The early feminists were pro-life. And really, abortion is a huge disservice to women, and it hasn't been presented that way."
HB 2800 is a good piece of legislation which reflects a true concern for health and the real common good. It ensures that public monies go to genuine health care facilities and not organizations like Planned Parenthood which has pulled off a ruse. A ruse is an action intended to deceive. They dress themselves up as a "Health Care Provider" and include the taking of the life of children as a "service" under their definition of "reproductive services". Abortion is not health care. It is certainly not "reproductive". Abortion is deadly.
Planned Parenthood has insinuated themselves in the government subsidized delivery of "medical services" and receive massive government funding. Their web site tells visitors they are "America's most trusted provider of reproductive health care" Yet, there is nothing "reproductive" about abortion - and it is certainly not a service to the child, the mother, the father or society. They should be defunded and now Arizona has joined the growing number of States doing just that. Governor Brewer is to be commended for her proper action in signing the legislation.
The Governor offered this statement, "This is a common sense law that tightens existing state regulations and closes loopholes in order to ensure that taxpayer dollars are not used to fund abortions, whether directly or indirectly. By signing this measure into law, I stand with the majority of Americans who oppose the use of taxpayer funds for abortion." Kansas, North Carolina and Texas have already enacted legislation similar to the Whole Woman's Health Funding Priority Act. Indiana, New Jersey and Wisconsin have used their budget processes to bar public funding for abortion providers.
Planned Parenthood's ruse reminds me of my childhood reading Superman comics. I date myself by mentioning the Bizarro world. However, many of my readers will remember. The Bizarro's inhabited "Htrae" ("Earth" spelled backwards). Their code was "Us do opposite of all Earthly things! Us hate beauty! Us love ugliness! Is big crime to make anything perfect on Bizarro World!" I say sadly because what is happening with Planned Parenthood is all too real. They live in a Bizarro world.
Planned Parenthood must be exposed, opposed and defunded. Authentic Health Care Providers who truly provide health care services which respect the fundamental human right to life should receive their funding and be empowered to compete with them at every level, Local, State and Federal. They have had a 'lock" on government funding for far too long and it must come to an end.
Planned Parenthood charges women, many of whom have been deceived and are themselves the second victims, for killing their own children. The "medical professionals" use surgical strikes, brutal suction or what they euphemistically now call a "medication abortion" (chemical weapons) to cause their death. Then, they are paid for the evil act with tax dollars.
Every procured abortion is the intentional taking of innocent human life in the first home of the whole human race. Every person alive today began their human life in that sanctuary of life, the womb. No one with any integrity or genuine moral sensibility any longer claims that the child in the womb, whom we now surgically operate on and can see clearly in 4D images, is not a human being.
The argument being made to try and justify this killing of our youngest neighbors is the perverse idea that "freedom" enables the one with more power to hire a so called "medical professional" to reach inside the sanctuary of the womb and take the life of a vulnerable and innocent child. Of course, we would not make the same argument about a one year old child living outside of the womb, in the nursery.
There is no moral distinction between what Planned Parenthood does and the intentional killing of a child outside of the womb. In addition, the time thresholds of "viability" under the inane structure forced upon us by the Supreme Court's Roe and Doe decisions keep getting pushed back as our technology reveals the truth about our smallest neighbors. Science has confirmed what our consciences have known all along, every procured abortion kills a child.
We commend Governor Jan Brewer for signing the "Whole Woman's Health Funding Priority Act.'

Rob: I think I answered this post in #4 Joe Biden. Prayers and Blessings...
vance, it's all smoke and mirrors if the lack of federal inaction just causes the repeal of the law. And if you follow the legislative record closely, it's not "activist judges" as you call them. In fact on a recent post I think I brought to your attention that the judge in that case was appointed by Bush. As I've said in previous post, it's great that at the state level their is real political courage to do something. But you aren't seriously going to sit there and tell me the same has been happening at the federal level? Again, blame the dems all you want, but what you are really saying is that we have the most ineffective GOP in our government right now. Sure they can move heaven and earth to pass a tax cut, but get rid of abortion, nope. 40 years and counting and you can't call it any other way. Believe me, if I were voting for dems, I would not be as angry. Maybe you like be treated like a chump, but I'm passing. As for Romney, I think you are right. He fortunately has the ability to morph into whatever he needs to be to win, so maybe he'll do a good job. Guess we'll see. We will see where we are at in four years on the pro-life front.
Hooray for Jan Brewer and her courage to do the right thing! Hooray for the Republican party which is the ONLY party standing up for right to life. We've got the enemies of life and true natural marriage on the run. They should be, anyone who wants to kill a baby or make perversion the norm has no right to power. The liberal media should be changing pretty quick as their viewership is rapidly dropping and they are after all just a business who have to watch out for their profits. The liberal PBS has got to watch out for their share of gov't funding and viewer donations. If thir programming is anti life and pro liberal socialist, don't donate and certainly don't watch. Guard your minds against the lies and filth and do the right things, as in this case Gov. Jan Brwer did. As for our opponents, who are against right to life and true marriage, we're not listening.
Rob, I believe you have been "Voting for the other side" and we already got that. What amuses me eventhough we have recent accounts of GOP Governors around the country "Defunding" Planned Parenthood, you still throw stones at those who are defunding Planned Parenthood. The GOP has been "Walking the Walk" for the last 20 years but your guys 'On the other side' get their hack judges that were appointed by "The other side" when they hold power to do their dirty work. Lugar's defeat is a loud and clear message that the Tea Party is alive and well and we don't want anymore RINO's. I'm sure Romney was paying attention.
asdf
Judy, I honestly believe that our failure to hold those accoutable to get rid of abortion and planned parenthood is the same thing as voting someone in. We can argue politics and power all we want, but at the end of the day these guys aren't getting the job done, planned parenthood's doors stay open and abortions continue. I think they love the pro-life movment during the election cycle, but once in office prolife issues just get lip service. Their seat or power always trumps pursuing this issue. Look at what happened to Santorum. We can decry the dems all we want about this issue, but they aren't the ones I keep voting for to handle it. So, if we get a GOP swing this round, at the end of their terms, if the status quo remains, I will be voting for the other guy. They have to know we are serious about this and serious to the point that they will lose their jobs if they do not act. I'm not playing the game anymore. So I may be voting for a dem in 2016 if Romney does nothing. No more excuses, no action on this issue, no vote. And sadly I think the status quo of the feds will ultimately cause the overturning of virtually all the pro-life legislation passed at the state level. I guess my days for "hope and change" and the life issue with the GOP are over (federal).
Rob: Good question. And who knows w/the Feds the way things are going. I'm beginning to think we don't need a SC. The people have got to be heard...not 12 individuals deciding Life or Death. This Obama nonsense is for the birds and I have a migraine. I'm sick of Obama's Feds, Gov. and Czars. Someone mentioned this board should not be used for venting...well, I haven't until now. Migraine's make for short fuses. Ha. But, I did answer your question! In all rationale, PP will take a lot of guts and prayer and elimination of Obama to overturn. I can not understand how a Catholic of good conscience can vote for one who supports PP and abortion. Can you?
Blessings...
Thank you Jan Brewer - I'm sure it's not easy to sign against the pressures...
Thanks for giving the little ones a little bit more of a chance - Jane
Hooray for Gov. Jan Brewer! What a needed jolt of good news! Hooray for LIFE! Those who say it's a woman's 'Choice' to kill her unborn child, and that such a murder is 'healthcare' have deceived many, and are themselves also deceived. But later in life the sorrow of an abortion is revealed. A woman may eagerly await the birth of her 'first', wanted, child, and have the horrible realization that she killed her actual first child, as it was an inconvenience to her at the time.
Ok, so we know PP will not take this lying down and will probably fight this law in court. Given the federal law, will this law survive?
