Dan Brown had previously fanned the flames of religious controversy in "The Da Vinci Code" when he suggested Jesus and Mary Magdelene had children together. Of course, his "claim" was not new. It was based on rejected gnostic writings of the early Christian centuries. Well, he intends to do the same, fan the flames of controversy, in his next novel - by expanding on Dante's criticism of church leaders.
