LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - This at least, according to Ron Fournier, a columnists at the National Journal, whose June 9 column focused on an email he had received from a senior Democrat, with close connections to the White House.
Join the fight against world hunger.
What was the subject of the email? Why a growing disillusionment with President Obama and an effort by Democrats to back away from a man, who at one point-think 2008-13-was their infallible golden boy.
Of course, the email's author was anonymous; as Fournier put it, "Few frustrated Democrats are willing to complain openly. I grant them anonymity." but the assessment is no less true.
These growing failures of the Obama presidency, as well as the general arrogant attitude of the President and his administration are just two of the reasons for the email; but the catalyst for this act, is of course the Bowe Bergdahl prisoner swap.
"The tipping point for this person was the Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl case-not the soldier-for-Taliban swap itself as much as how the White House mishandled its obligation to communicate effectively and honestly to Congress and the public," Fournier wrote. "More than that, Obama's team had failed once again to acknowledge its mistakes, preferring to cast blame and seek cover behind talking points."
Fournier shared this in his column "to make a broader point and to offer a disclosure: In the 18 months since I began writing columns focused on the presidency, virtually every post critical of Obama has originated from conversations with Democrats."
The list includes "Members of Congress, consultants, pollsters, lobbyists, and executives at think tanks."
These Democrats believe that Obama's shortcomings as a leader are what have damaged his presidency. The" inattention to details of governing: his disengagement from the political process and from the public: his unwillingness to learn on the job: and his failure to surround himself with top-shelf advisers who are willing to challenge their boss as well as their own preconceived notions."
This email has simply confirmed what many already knew about the President. His term-and-a-half has been ineffectual and plagued by lies, cover-ups and blame.
