Parts of Obamacare website found to be plagiarized

The Obamacare website appears to be a disaster as analysts review the site to determine why it doesn't work as intended. It turns out, a portion of the website was copied using open source software and violates a licensing agreement.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The Obamacare website uses a copyrighted script for part of its functions. The script is known as "DataTables" and it is used for formatting and presenting information. The software was written by British company, SpryMedia, and the software is open-source which means that anyone can download and use the software for free as long as they follow certain guidelines.

The key guideline is the retention of the copyright notices in the code. However, Obamacare deletes the notices, thus breaking the guidelines.

That the code comes from DataTables is undeniable. Unique lines of code, even entire error messages are copied verbatim from the SpryMedia source.

Essentially, whoever built the Obamacare website cut and pasted the DataTables code, and willfully deleted the copyright notice, possibly in the hopes nobody would ever recognize the code.

While code can appear as gibberish to the casual internet surfer, experienced programmers know what every word and slash means, and can read code the same as you or I might read a book. If someone took the cover off Shakespeare, a competent reader would still know who the author was from its unique composition.

According to the Weekly Standard, "A representative for the company said that they were 'extremely disappointed' to see the copyright information missing and will be pursuing it further with the Department of Health and Human Services, the agency that runs the Healthcare.gov site."

As of mid-October, most Americans say they still have problems with the site and few can actually enroll.

Obamacare also has other problems developing. Many lower-middle-class families are finding they cannot afford the monthly premiums and are complaining on social media. The high premiums will likely compel many potential users to shy away and opt instead to pay the penalty tax than to pay up hundreds of dollars a month more for health insurance.

If that happens, the Obamacare will prove a disaster for the middle class and for the Democrats who pushed for the legislation. The only winners will be the very poor who don't pay for insurance and the Republicans who may see their base expand as frustrated voters rebel against the Obamacare tax.
