Documents could tell an enemy of Israel how to destroy the facility.

The U.S. government has published the details of a top-secret Israeli military base effectively destroying secrecy and safety at the installation. The details were published in a bid to contractors to help build another secret military base.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - President Obama promised Israelis he would help build their new Arrow 3 missile defense system. As is customary, the Defense Department published details of the new base so contractors could estimate costs and submit reasonable bids.

The project was estimated to cost about $25 million. It was detailed in over 1,000 pages of documents that were released so contractors could review the project in detail.

Those documents detailed absolutely everything about the specifications of the facility including the composition and thickness of the concrete, the construction of safety doors, blast proof equipment, and more.

The documents also revealed the presence of a top-secret Israeli military facility at Tel Shahar, a base so secret that even the Israeli military won't acknowledge its existence.

At least one Israeli official expressed concern over the publication of the documents and the future safety and security of both facilities. That official asked to remain unnamed because he was not authorized to speak on the matter.

"If an enemy of Israel wanted to launch an attack against a facility, this would give him an easy how-to guide," he said. "This type of information is closely guarded and its release can jeopardize the entire facility." He added, "this is more than worrying, it is shocking."

Apparently, the release of such details is routine in the United States, and the Israelis were aware that this would be part of the bidding process. Israeli officials said that after bidding is complete, details are usually altered for this very reason.

However, the Israelis are still surprised that officials in the U.S. found it necessary to publish details of a top-secret base alongside details of the proposal for a new base.

According to a release from Jane's Defence Weekly, the new Arrow 3 base will hold six interceptor missiles that are capable of shooting down a ballistic missile while it is still outside the Earth's atmosphere. The base is being built in response to concerns that Iran is building a missile system that is capable of delivering a nuclear weapon against Israel.

The facility is slated to become operational in 2015. Israel has ordered the fast tracking of the system because they have little confidence that Israel will be deterred from its current nuclear weapons program.
