LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Pope Francis has officially recognized the miracle of a man who was cured after suffering with several brain tumors in 2008. After the man's priest prayed for Mother Teresa's intervention to God, the man was healed.

This second miracle brings Mother Teresa one step closer to canonization. She was beatified in 2003 by Pope John Paul II, who waived the 5-year waiting period before processing her toward sainthood.

Many have been waiting for Mother Teresa's sainthood, with the Italian news believing she would be canonized September fourth next year, which is scheduled to be a day in which Catholics celebrate "Jubilee for workers and volunteers of mercy," while holding a "Memorial of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta."

Despite the rumors of Mother Teresa's canonization date, Fr. Ciro Benedettini, the vice director at the Holy See Press Office, told the Catholic News Agency there is "a project, a study being carried out" on the potential canonization of Mother Teresa, but there was nothing juridical set, particularly because a set date would require Pope Francis' permission.

The Vatican also refused to announce a date for her canonization, but did say, "the Holy Father has authorized the Congregation for the Causes of Saints to proclaim the decree concerning the miracle attributed to the intercession of blessed Mother Teresa."

A spokeswoman for the Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa, Sister Christie, told the BBC they were excited to hear the news.

"Obviously all of us at the Missionaries of Charity are extremely happy. But we do not have any plans to celebrate this announcement as yet."
