Catholic TV Ad Airs during College Football Bowl Week, reaching 70 million homes!

They say football is a religion for some diehard fans. That's why we're airing a new national television commercial beginning during college football bowl week and ending with the BCS National Championship (Notre Dame vs. Alabama), January 7, 2013!

This one-of-a-kind ad features beloved legendary football Coach Lou Holtz delivering a rallying half-time pep-talk.  In the 30-second commercial, Holtz coaches viewers to the goal in life..."heaven."  He is an ideal person to deliver the message, since Holtz is a well-known veteran of goals, coaching Notre Dame to the National Title in 1988 during their last undefeated season.

You and I know that faith is not a spectator's sport; it must be lived.it's interactive!  This is why we're trying a creative game plan, with the goal of winning loyal fans for Jesus and the Church!  All viewers who follow the wisdom of Coach Holtz-keeping focused on the goal in life: Heaven. They will be the true winners when the final down is played.

The new Catholics Come Home® evangomercial will air in various markets and programming throughout the United States, reaching an estimated 70 million households!

Perhaps the new Catholics Come Home®  football themed ad will help motivate some loyal football fans and their families to set a New Year's resolution of coming home to weekly Mass!

We all know that with God all things are possible!  After all, the Holy Spirit inspired me to write this script more than a year ago, long before Notre Dame ever played its first game of their undefeated season. Then by God's grace, I ran into Coach Holtz last July in the Los Angeles airport and was able to invite him to star in this spot!  It's quite apparent that God is watching over us and has a wonderful plan in store!

I love seeing powerful lay ministries in action! What a great ministry and a great commercial to boot ... thanks for alerting us to this. I tend to be more of an NFL (MLB, NHL, etc.) guy too so I would've missed this as well.

I admire Catholics Come Home and the way they read out to all of us, including what Lou has done. Once I read that the largest group of Christians, outside the Catholic Church in the USA were ex Catholics, non-practicing Catholics, fallen away Catholics, etc. I've thought for a long time this is a worthy group for the 'official' Catholic church to spend its resources winning back or Catholic related groups.
Once they return, then we need those in parishes ready to attend to them, explain the Church's teaching and structure so it is clearer and useful for them and prepared to heal the wounds many of these 'Catholics' have for lots of reasons. The Church is the Church but it's always local - who you deal with at a parish daily, weekly, monthly, etc. You have to have a home to come back to with those knowing how to tend to you for it to work - clear teachings that make sense and are useful for daily life, clarifying what they know about other faiths and belief systems they have encountered, being tended to and healed of self inflicted wounds, others who hurt them from the Church some time ago. Some will still not be satisfied but we need to be prepared to do what it takes in areas they need - not just say this is the way it is, take it or leave it - for it to work and if we're serious.

My heart goes out to the thousands of divorced Catholics who do not attend Mass feeling they are unworthy to be in the presence of "the faithful" much less the Euchurist or those who do come but either leave at communion time or remain in the pews.

I enjoyed this article. We were watching the game and my kids noticed the commercial. We were so excited to finally hear and see a message about our catholic faith on television. We are very proud to be catholic and to get this message out to others is something great. The commercial was very we'll done. I pray that there will be more to follow. Keep up the good works. God is great! Lets get excited and inspire others everyday!
