Global warming is real? Philadelphia faces cold snap - Philadelphia

Cold stretch is longest in two years.

Global Warming is real huh? Tell that to Philly residents who are facing what could be the longest stretch of cold weather in nearly two years.

Low temps will be sticking around Philly into next week, but without the snow.

Low temps will be sticking around Philly into next week, but without the snow.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (Catholic Online) - According to the National Weather Service, the weather in Philadelphia will be both very cold and dry into next week, with high temperatures hanging around the 20s and 30s. Overnight low temperatures could fall to near zero.

Although this is typical, it is a bit colder than last year's longest cold snap. Typically, highs do not dip into the 20s for very long.

Late January and early February are typically the coldest time of the year across the region. The exceptional cold means more danger for vulnerable residents, including the homeless and the elderly.

What nonsense you global warming cranks write. So record cold weather is really global warming? Get a real job where you don't have to tell lie!

Just goes to show, given enough time the earth will make fools of the climate alarmists. Since the earth has been on a cooling trend for several years now, the alarmists are claiming that global cooling is really caused by global warming. Lol!

Its freezing in Philly, so the alarmists say 'that's only Philly, thats not global'. But when we have a drought in Texas, its considered global so we had better stop fracking and driving cars and start building wind turbines. Lol!

BTW, regarding that 'world shattering' drought we had last summer, where are all of the skyrocketing food prices we are supposed to be suffering through right now? Did the greenies forget about that or something? The greenies live their lives in fear. I don't.

    cheers

Climate is more about general trends than one very cold year. If climate were truly stable one would of course see variations. For example, the number of coldest temperature records and warmest temperature records would be about equal, like an roughly equal number of heads and tails over many flips of the coins.

Over the last few decades the number of coldest temperature records and warmest temperature records have been records. Warmest now beats coldest by about 2 to 1. And if you look at very recent years the ratios of warmest/coldest is about 10 to 1. In 2012 alone, more than 14,000 "hottest day ever" records were set. Very few "coldest day" records were set.

Philly won't alter that ratio by much.

Global climate and local weather are very different. Global warming is real....and we need to be stewards of the earth and protect God's creation.

The ocean's pH is dropping, Arctic melting hit a record this year, thousands of average (high) temperatures reading were shattered.

Go see the movie...."Chasing Ice"......it will make you realize what we are doing to the earth.

What a deceitful angle for a local weather report! The understandably anonymous author can't possibly be so asinine as to fail to make a distinction between the words 'global' and 'Philadelphia'. In order to gain a bit of perspective, he or she could easily find a classroom globe of Earth and examine the tiny little dot on it that is Philadelphia. No, the anonymous author(s) can't be that stupid. This is dishonesty, with an all too familiar stench of anti-science. We've grown past this nonsense - join us.

Anybody that thinks global warming is all about warmer temperatures needs to do some more research and stop watching propaganda on cable television....

Apparently science magazines like SCIENCE and DISCOVER get dusty in your household, Mr Editor. If they did not, you would know that potential consequences of climate change are stronger storms (ala Katrina, Sandy) and ice ages. Real historical evidence, something religion cannot refute, shows that the last time the climate warmed at the rate it is currently the result was a mini-ice age in Europe. Weather patterns are dictated by the temperature of the oceanic waters, warmer waters bring warmer temperatures that melt ice creating a surplus of cool water cooling the water to bring cooler temperatures ala Philadelphia.
