Adopt a Cardinal and Pray for Him!

Jugend 2000 (Youth 2000), a Catholic youth group, has sponsored an innovative web page in which you are assigned a particular cardinal (randomly) to pray for before the Conclave, during the Conclave, and for three days after the election.  If you are interested in adopting a cardinal visit the website at www.adoptacardinal.org.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (Catholic Online) - As most informed Catholics know, the Cardinals from all over the world have gathered in Rome soon to choose in a Conclave a new Pope to replace Pope Benedict XVI who resigned on February 28, 2013, leaving the Holy See sede vacante, or without a Pope.

The choice of a Pope is always a monumental decision in the life of the Universal Church, and it is important that the Cardinals exercise their prudent judgment and be open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit on their choice as to who will be the Bishop of Rome, Successor of Peter, and Vicar of Christ.

Jugend 2000 (Youth 2000), an international Catholic youth movement that was founded in 1990 after John Paul II visited Santiago de Compostela in 1989, has crafted an innovative way to involve Catholics in praying for the Cardinals involved in the process of electing the new Pope.

They have sponsored a web page-http://www.adoptacardinal.org-in which you are assigned a particular cardinal (randomly) to pray for before the Conclave, during the Conclave, and for three days after the election.

The website has become popular, and as of the time of this writing almost 500,000 persons have signed up to be assigned a Cardinal.

The website asks:

"Are you infinitely thankful to God for having given us such a wonderful, wise and benevolent pope in Benedict XVI?"

"Do you sincerely hope that the Church will be granted a worthy successor: a rock of faith, a leader open to the Holy Spirit, a pope prayerful and holy?"

"Do you as an important part of the Body of Christ wish to contribute through the power of your prayers so that the Holy Spirit may guide, protect and enlighten our Cardinals when they determine the next successor of St. Peter?"

If you answer the questions "yes," then adopt a Cardinal!  The website will require your name and an email address, and it will send you information about your Cardinal.

I ran through the process and received as my adoptee, Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya, the Archbishop of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Great idea to have as many people praying for the right choice. We need a strong leader to clean up
our church. God will bring forth the right person! As long a all the people pray their respective cardinal.
Many changes need to be made for our growing church
Celibacy is great for the right person. But we also need married priests, even though the burden will be great, with prayer all of these men and women will be led by the Holy Spirit.
Hopefully many millions will pray for God's choice.
    May God Bless all!

Greetings fro Ottawa, Canada to all of the faithal of the Catholic Church. I wish to share a message to all the faithul that our family is sending our prauers to all the Cardinals currently meeting at the Vatican in Rome choosing our next leader of the world wide church that hopefuly will lead us through these difficult times for years to come. I wish to share with you my personal choice for Pope in which I think should be from North America. More precisely I really believe our Canadian Cardinal Oulette of Quebec City should be our next leader of the church and not just because he is a fellow Canadian either. I think he has a very kindly old traditional French Canadian face and character and at the same time is very well aware of the moder world he lives in. He even uses current technology to talk to his mom. Talk about a guy who has learned to use the modern tools around him. He has also learned a multitude of Languages which is a very important skill for a Pope in today's world to have in order for him to speak to a wide audience around the world. To me when he was interviewed on the CBC he seemed to have a very interpersonal character that is very typical of the old generation of the French. Best of all that out shines every other great character points that I've pointed out is that he is aCardinal that isn't burened down with scandal especiallynot with the current sexual abuse scandels that sadly has been coming of late. No one has been able to connect with any of it. No cover, no personal acts of child abuse nor acts of homosexuality as far as I know and the rest of the public eye know. That even by it self makes him a great Candidate to be Pope. Let us all pray for him that he can make it into the position so we can experience a very different kind of leadershipstyle from our part of the world for the very first time in the Church's hisiory.

Your faithul servent to the church and theLord,
    Dave Clark
