St. Anthony of Padua Comments

Saint Anthony was canonized (declared a saint) less than one year after his death. There is perhaps no more loved and admired saint in the Catholic Church than Saint Anthony of Padua, a Doctor of the Church. Though his work was in Italy, he was born in Portugal. He first joined the Augustinian Order and then left it and joined the Franciscan Order in 1221, when he was 26 years old. The reason he became a Franciscan was because of the death of ... Dear Theresa G. Rener,
I got this information from the internet. I hope this helps

St. Anthony is invoked as the patron saint of lost things. A little jingle goes like this: "St. Anthony, please look around; something is lost and must be found." This attribution comes from an incident where a novice carried off a valuable psalter St. Anthony was using. St. Anthony prayed very hard that the psalter would be found. After seeing an alarming apparition of St. Anthony, the novice returned the psalter. However, many suggest he is more importantly the patron of lost souls — those who have fallen to mortal sin, have abandoned the Church and have grown apathetic to the practice of the faith.

Thank you, St. Anthony for your intercession. I have asked for several prayers and you recently answered one of them. I continue to ask for prayer for my reconciliation with Anthony. Let us re-unite and have a relationship that will lead to marriage, one that will honor and glorify God. Please intercede on his behalf, he has lost his way in faith, pray that he may return to trusting GOD. I pray that his heart is softened and open to accepting God's will in his life. I pray for the Holy Spirit to fill him and that through God's supernatural strength he can overcome the strongholds that are keeping him from having a relationship with the Lord. I pray that his heart will hunger for God's word and that he will become the spiritual leader he was meant to be. Amen.

I have always had a great devotion to St. Anthony, but strangely today I got a request from a dear friend in Florida & I can't find the answer to the question she asked about St. Anthony. A priest friend of hers, asked her yesterday: Why is St. Anthony know as the saint to pray to when you've lost something? I've called Graymore & searched the internet & can't find the particular reason that started that was instrumental of using St. Anthony to resolve anything lost. If someone could give me the exact answer I would be grateful.
All I know, I'm almost 75 years old & have always prayed to St. Anthony, but now I need to produce something to explain to someone else why/or how come. I'm deeply grateful for any help you can give.
