Louise de Marillac was born probably at Ferrieres-en-Brie near Meux, France, on August 12, 1591. She was educated by the Dominican nuns at Poissy. She desired to become a nun but on the advice of her confessor, she married Antony LeGras, an official in the Queen's service, in 1613. After Antony's death in 1625, she met St. Vincent de Paul, who became her spiritual adviser. She devoted the rest of her life to working with him. She helped direct ... Continue Reading

Since I was studying at the school managed by the Daughter's of Charity, I always study your life that we never failed a year without disuccing your works. I was just knowing you by mind but not byheart.
As I've matured I realized that your works and compassion for the poor is agreat inspiration for all people specially me. Thank you for enlightening me and being such a good inspiration with all your generous works. I pray that my children will do the same goodness to the poor as I would introduce you to them.

I'd never heard of St Louise until having RCIA & doing the "Journey of Faith" lessons, one task was to research the Saint on my birthday, which just happens to be St Louise :) found it real interesting also that she is the patron saint of social workers as im doing mediation courses & people always suggest i should be a social worker or nun! :)

St. Louise died March 15, 1660 at the age of 68. She died six months before St. Vincent DePaul.
