The Papal Conclave, Day 2: What's Wrong With Fox's Shepard Smith? Comments
If Fox News wants to keep its Catholic viewership, which we believe is substantial, it's time for those in charge to make a change. A required month-long retreat and absence from Fox News for Shepard Smith would be a good beginning -- to discourage him and others from sneering at the Church beloved by millions. Continue Reading

The Catholic Church does not have to conform to society. Society should conform to God's stand on life. We are a church of laws proclaimed by God himself. We are a church founded by Jesus Christ Himself. I feel really bad about Fox News letting Sheppard Smith speak about our Holy Father and the Roman Catholic Church like this. I will not watch Sheppard Smith again on Fox News.
Comparing death penalty to abortion is ridiculous!!!!! According to the Death Penalty Information Center since 1976, when Death Penalty was reinstated,1,264 have died through the death penalty. How many have died through abortion? Over 50 MILLION!
Death penalty 1,264
abortion 50,000,000

I dont like War or the death penalty right NOW the worst human issue is the slaughter of the innocent unborn!!
It should be noted this is not the first time Shepard Smith as let his Left Wing agenda interfer with his objectivity. He has always expressed his snide remarks to communicate to those who follow him his dissatisfaction with positions in opposition to his own. He purports to be a legitimate journalist not a opinonated pundit but finds it hard to live by the rules. Yes, I am Catholic and I am offended by incidences in the past as well his curent departure from sound practice as a reporter of the news.
@ Rara Avis
As a recovering Catholic you should probably stop trolling Catholic websites for 'goddess' sake.
Bye, Shep!
One doesn't have to watch current 'news' reports by Mr. Smith to know his opinion on issues important to Catholics and the Church. I received a very nasty personal response from Mr. Smith during the Terri Schiavo ordeal. He is very 'progressive' in his views on life and gender equality issues. It shouldn't surprise anyone that his progressive views would cloud his opinion of the church. We quit watching his news 5 years ago.
Rara Avis, your post shows that you know little to nothing about Jesus Christ and the Holy Catholic Church. Ideas that are similar to yours, which some Chirstian churches have adopted have brought them to ridicule and divisions. Besides, all other Christian denominations put together are no match for the Catholic Church which continues to follow doggedly the teachings it received from Our Lord Jesus Christ. I want you to compare the teachings of the Catholic Church, which have survived 2,000 years to your ideas and suggestions which are about 2 hours old and decide for yourself which ones are actually "relevant."
Smith is the liberal than CNN could have. I have known that he is a closeted anti-catholic commentator.
As for those so called Catholics who want women to be ordained priests, they should join the Episcopal Church. Male ordination is a doctrine like the Trinity- it can't be changed.
Thank God, I am a catholic.
Nicole: You are wise beyond your years. Thank you for your comments. God bless.
Bill, Sr.: Excellent! You are truly a blessing to our Faith and to COL. I always enjoy your comments. Keep them coming. It's refreshing to see that there are, at least, some people out there that know their Faith. We all can benefit from your wisdom. God bless.
Shepard Smith does not follow the beliefs of his own faith. I believe he needs to stay out of issues he does not understand. I pray for those who chose to judge others... There is only one God, and he's not it.
