Guest Opinion: The Phenomenon of Homosexuality in Today's Society Comments

The sexual union of a man and woman is called the marital act because the two become physically one in a way that is impossible between two men or two women. Whatever a homosexual union might be or represent, it is not physically marital. Gender is inextricably bound up with physical sexual identity; and "gender-free marriage" is a contradiction in terms, like a square circle. To redefine marriage to include same-sex couples is to strip marriage ... Continue Reading

    More recent study, Definition, Characteristics of Offenders, Recidivism, Treatment Outcomes, and Forensic Issues, basically says that most of pedophiles are homosexuals. And further this, think about why Disney World, a destination for Children, has a gay festival called gays days, where hundreds of thousands of male homosexuals meet and 'enjoy' the park. Why are homosexuals called to boy scouts of america?

    So if homosexuals are so innocent, why are they trying to get into places that are specifically designed for children?

    Even though we as Catholics believe homosexuality isn't right, we still should accept those people into our hearts. Who are we to judge anyone! The only person who really has the right to judge is God, and we are definitely not God. God sent us his son to be our Shepard, and he opened his heart to everyone and anyone. We are continuously told to model our life on Jesus. And that includes helping others, while not judging them. In my eyes, you can't be a Christian if you're not compassionate and accepting of everyone.

    Thank you for this very informative article. What I find sad, however is that in almost all Christian comment on the subject, no mention is made that healing of same sex attraction is possible for those who seek it. Our experience is that almost invariably, homosexuals have had a dysfunctional relationship, at a young age, with their same sex parent. Intensive prayer ministry for healing of memories in the name of Jesus and by the the power of the Holy Spirit is effective. It is long since time that the Church moved in this direction to bring the grace and mercy of those who seek it. I would suggest reading Dr. Francis MacNutt's small book from a Catholic perspective, 'Homosexuality Can Be Healed", Jeffery Satinover bears this out. Nothing is impossible for our God

    @Abbey:

    Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed simply for their accepts of homosexual practices, but rather because of the way in which they engaged in these practices. The people of those two cities had lowered themselves to the level of animals. They had completely and totally rejected any concept of natural low, morality, right and wrong... They were governed purely by animal instinct and sexual lust.

    As a Catholic Street Minister I run into all sorts of combinations out there and most young peopole and young adults, those who have had the most propaganda thrown at them in this area of marriage and homosexuality, feel the issue is debatable and non-relevant as long as the "couples" are good people and positive contributors to society.
    The homosexual agenda is aggressive, powerful, and relentless. They have MORE voice, MORE share of voice, and MORE dedication than those who, for whatever reason, are opposed to what is being proclaimed by those who embrace homosexuality both personally and/or theoretically.
    As long as WE Catholics and other Christians talk about this between ourselves and don't get out there shout from the roof tops what we know to be true, they, the Homosexuals will win. IF indeed we want to see this terrible and abominable societal trend stop and reverse itself, we'd have to be out there daily in a two to one ratio to what "they" are doing. Since that is not the case, the homosexual agenda will win!!!
    It's sad, it's true, and it will take place and then we will once again wonder how come it happened. Just as the Lord Jesus told us years ago, the harvest is huge and the workers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the Harvest for more workers. As Catholics we look upon this as a vocational call but as we all know, and especially in this year of faith, it is encumbant upon all of us Catholics and other Christians to actively be involved in telling the truth out there, in leading people to Christ, in spreading the Good News and let's never forget that news is only good once people believe or at least perceive there is bad news that needs fixing. Being nice is a bad goal. Telling the truth is better and sometimes the doctor has to tell the patient they have cancer. Homosexuality is a cancer in our society and we have the cure. Let's be good doctors and share both aspects of this proclamation so at least some might finally understand their evil reality and change for the glory of God.

    Sure! Homosexuals brought down the Roman Empire it only manage to putter along for another 500 years after the Emperor Augustus band it ,in fact it collapse in the west 100 years after a Christian Emperor first took charge, in the east it morph into the Byzantine Empire whose citizens considered themselves Romans and it just managed to squeak by for another 900 years.If this is the Homosexual record on bringing down Empires I figure the Great American Republic has about two or three thousand years of life to go.

    The movement to grant equal status under the law to homosexuality (sexual perversion contrary to Natural Law) is nothing more than a Trojan horse intended to cravenly provide sexual perverts with the legal implements they need to harass, dismantle and bankrupt their primary object of contempt: the Catholic Church. The Church does not condemn homosexual acts on its own accord, but instead does so because of the Divine Word around which it gathers, and does not have the authority to alter or abridge. Therefore, homosexuals -- by hating the Church -- actually hate the Source of the Divine Word -- namely God Himself, Who has decreed sinful the perverted sex acts homosexuals relish as a means of diabolically steering souls away from God and instead towards perdition. Homosexuality -- which is satanic hatred disguised as "love" -- mimics the degradation demons in hell inflict upon one another and upon damned souls as an expression of their abject despair and self-contempt for having preferred empty self-love to the healing, edifying and fulfilling love of God.

    "Men & Women with Homosexual tendencies must be accepted with compassion, respect & sensitivity", if this was so why then did God utterly destroy Sodom & Gomorrah & to the prophecy will again utterly destroy, for this very Sin to the very reason God did not separate man & his deed. The works of a man define the man, for it is written that He is not a respecter of persons. If this was the view of God then so is it now. He does not change.

    While yes, I agree with this article and support (most of) the ideas, I noticed some things that I believe would open up the Catholic faith for large criticism.
    1) The fact that the writer had to go back to the late 1940s in some cases to find research that supports his claims will cement the idea that the church is old, out of date, and stuck in the past to some people. While I understand that these studies might not have been conducted since then, the writer should have then picked topics to discuss that had more recent and up to date research and studies.
    2) This is were the "most of" comes from. The part about how the Roman Empire fell apart because it allowed homosexuality. It says that God (because he has a plan for everything) didn't like the fact that the Roman Empire allowed homosexuality and so he ended it, allowing prominently pagan peoples to conquer the prominently Christian empire. It equates the Catholic faith with Westboro Baptist Church. It says that the Catholic Church supports the Westboro Baptist Church in its claims that God hates gays. Which, from what I know of my faith, is NOT the Catholic Church's position on that issue.

    This article is well written. The article goes well beyond what our media would call hate speech. The exclusion of God in the last few sentences sums up all that is wrong with our country now. We as Catholic Christians suppose to love everyone, and just hate the behaviors that go against the Bible. After many Christians went out to vote for someone who seems to care little about what we say we are, we now have to be ready for the loss of religious freedoms, increased abortions, and gay marriage to be part of everyone’s life. Nobody is perfect and we all sin. It is condoning sin and voting against God that makes it extremely hard to live as a Christian now. It will be dangerous to be a Christian some day. It is already starting with atheist groups removing Christian symbols wherever they can, and people being ashamed of the very word God now. This is not political, but if you go out and vote for someone extremely pro choice, anti Christian, and pro gay marriage, we will continue to pay the price for this very precious vote. An anti Christian President will nominate anti Christian Supreme Court Justices that will affect life for decades to come. I pray for the President to change, even though I hate very much his behaviors.
