We must be unequivocal in our defense of every innocent human life from conception to natural death.

Every child killed by voluntary abortion is a Holy Innocent. Every leader who supports this killing, implicitly or explicitly, carries on the evil actions of Herod. On this Feast of the Holy Innocents let us summon a new resolve to bring an end to the slaughter of the holy innocents in this hour.

The Holy Innocents being slaughtered

The Holy Innocents being slaughtered

CHESAPEAKE, VA. (Catholic Online) - On December 28 in the Octave of Christmas we commemorate the Feast of the Holy Innocents in the Liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church. The readings for the Mass remind us that evil has no respect for life. There is an ongoing struggle between life and death, darkness and light, and those of us called to continue the redemptive mission of Jesus, the Light of the world, are engaged in the conflict.

The first reading for the Mass of the Feast of the Holy Innocents is taken from the 1st letter of the beloved disciple John, "This is the message that we have heard from Jesus Christ and proclaim to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. If we say, "We have fellowship with him," while we continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth." (I John 5)

We are celebrating the Octave of the Nativity of the Lord, Christmas. Sometimes Christmas is  referred to as the Feast of the Incarnation. In fact, the Incarnation is much broader in its implications. The Word became Incarnate immediately upon the response given by Mary to the invitation of the Lord delivered through the Angel.

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit. The moment He was conceived, the Incarnation began. Jesus Christ lived through every age and every stage of development. He is identified with every child from the moment of conception. Every procured abortion is the taking of innocent human life. Every child killed by abortion is a Holy Innocent.

Medical science confirms what the Natural Law and our conscience long ago told all of us, the child in the womb is one of us. We all know it. We routinely operate on her when she needs our help and place her back in her first home of the womb until birth. We prosecute a criminal who, in committing a crime against his mother, kills him as well.

The abortion lie has been revealed in its wretched ugliness. Every procured abortion is the intentional killing of an innocent child. The child in the womb is the same as the child outside of the womb. We are always persons in development. The me at 58 is the same me at 28, only developing in the continuum of life.

The entire framework called "viability", arising out of the horrid decisions of the US Supreme Court in the Roe and Doe cases of 1973, is premised on a notion that being "independent" is what makes us human. The truth is we are always dependent, and interdependent. We are not human outside of relationship with others. We are called to communion. Procured abortion is a sin against solidarity. We are we are killing our first neighbors in the womb.

No-one who continues to support abortion as a "choice" is a friend of the poor. The baby in the womb is, as Mother Teresa so clearly reminded us, the "poorest of the poor". Defenders of abortion on demand only use the poor to promote their evil acts. Any Nation which protects in the positive law the taking of innocent human life in the womb, calling it a "right" and a "choice" is participating in this evil and promoting darkness.

The Gospel for the Mass on the Feast of the Holy Innocents reminds us of how evil infects those who fail to hear the cry of the poor and serve in government. The example given is Herod, a ruler inebriated with his own power. He ruled unjustly while claiming to be doing exactly the opposite:

"When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi. Then was fulfilled what had been said through Jeremiah the prophet: A voice was heard in Ramah, sobbing and loud lamentation; Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be consoled, since they were no more'.

Rachel still weeps in our day. The US Government carries on the evil of Herod by funding the killing of Holy Innocents. For example, in calendar year 2008/2009 Planned Parenthood received $363 million in government grants and contracts. This money was extracted from the US taxpayer and used to kill 324,008 children in the womb. With the reelection of an administration dedicated to making abortion even more available and funding it, the numbers will only increase and the gravity of the horror become worse.

Planned Parenthood is built on a deadly lie. They have dressed themselves up as a "Health Care Provider" and they include the taking of the lives of innocent children in the womb as a "service" under their offering of "reproductive services". They have insinuated themselves into the global delivery of "medical services" receiving massive government funding. They are now considered welcome guests at the White House and their minions make policy in the cabinet of this administration.

There is nothing "reproductive" about abortion. It is certainly not a ...

It is sad how much abortion is supported as an increasingly approved of World view,as some sexual right of a women. The human body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit. If people and their leaders really believed that, than abortion would be unthinkable,as would be rape and all pre-marital sexual activity. The human body itself would be a holy and respected housing for every uniquely different human spirit, uniquely loved by God as well. Life would be a precious gift of God. The Catholic Church would not take a hit for anti-abortion teaching,it would be the approved teaching accepted by all as Divine Truth. People do not understand life in its,and their, relationship to Divinity. That is a major problem because if they did, they would want to obey God and live through the teachings of Jesus Christ. The leaders of the world would understand and want to be one nation under God with liberty and justice for all.

Exactly correct. No nation can long refer to itself as "good" which supports the right to kill the most defenseless and innocent of humans among us. And no person can legitimately refer to himself as a Christian who supports the right to choose an abortion.

Obama and the Party of Death do make a great comparison to King Herod. Obama and his Party of Death can't kill enough babies in the womb. But don't forget, it doesn't stop here. Obamacare will begin "Rationing" senior citizens to death. Herod tried to kill the Christ child. Obama and his Party of Death are trying to kill Christ from the public square and from schools. Holiday Tree anyone? For Obama and his Party of Death humanity has no value but how useful is it to the state.

The Right to life group in my church said the Rosary at Planned Parenthood on Dec 28th as they do every Friday. They were able to save one child on this Friday, Feast of the Holy Innocents. They came back to church for Mass with great excitement and enthusiasm, for having save one child. It struck me as I was reading this article how special it was that a least one child was saved, and that how sad it is that more are not marching. I watched the movie yesterday, "For Greater Glory", and as the young boy was martyred, I was talking to my grand son of the faith and courage that boy had, to refuse until death to acclaim Jesus Christ as Our Lord and Savior. We need this type of courage and resolve in face of the opposition to the Right to life.

The problem that I have with this article is that it's not the government killing children. It's men and women doing this to their own children. If we do not stop focusing on the government and get serious about changing hearts ands minds, this battle is over. Government complacency is the reason the abortion issue just isn't registering with younger voters anymore. Not voting for Obama is not going to change anything but perhaps cut some funding.

I pray for the children. I pray for those who voted for Obama that they somehow see the light. Most of all I pray for the priest and bishops who have failed to speak up and have allowed so many consciences to be formed so poorly. My liberal Catholic neighbor who supports Obama sits in the same church as I do and seldom do I hear anything that would make him uncomfortable. I read the diocese newspaper and again seldom would and article make him uncomfortable. Can any spell, SOCIAL JUSCTICE? How can I fault him, his mind is filled with Social Justice preachers, MSNBC, NPR, and CNN. Helping the poor is easy to preach to about. Living the doctrines of the failth might just make some folks uncomfortable. Hmm.. Christ died on the cross for us and yet some church leaders don't want to make folks uncomfortable. It seems Christ was very uncomfortable. I believe it is time for conservative faithful Catholics to notify the leaders that the status quo is making us uncomfortable.

    May God gives us strength.

Birth does not occur at the time that the baby passes through the pelvic girdle. Birth occurs at conception. It is at conception that the living entity enters human life in the womb of the mother. In other words, abortion is murder. The living entity accepts the shelter and protection of the mother, and what does she do? She slices his throat or burns him alive.
It is pointed out in the vedic scriptures that such a so-called mother will in the future herself take birth again, and she will be murdered in the same way. She will re-incarnate in a next life and be aborted herself. It is pointed out in the Upanisads and the Puranas. What goes around comes around. It's called karma. One can often escape the civil laws, but one cannot escape the laws of God. As you do unto others, will be done unto you. There is no escape from that law.

And every voter who supports candidates who support the killing is an accessory to the crime. Catholic democrats voted twice for a candidate who supports killing of girls and boys outside of the womb even after they survive the attempt to kill them in the womb. This was done, presumably, for their support of his "compassionate, social justice" economic policy. That policy has been quite brutal and savage in its effects on innocent people, including myself. Our pain, of course, can't begin to compare with the pain of the children killed by this administration's social policy.
