'Da Vinci Code' author turns attention to 'Dante's Inferno' for next book
New novel will focus on hidden clues in medieval poet's epic tome
Dan Brown, author of the worldwide best seller "The Da Vinci Code" is next setting his sights on Medieval poet "Dante's Inferno" as the basis of his next book. Brown says that Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon will be making a reappearance, and the novel will explore the deeper meanings of Dante's poem and its influence
Dan Brown had previously fanned the flames of religious controversy in 'The Da Vinci Code' when he suggested Jesus and Mary Magdelene had children together. Of course, his 'claim' was not new. It was based on rejected gnostic writings of the early Christian centuries. Well, he intends to do the same, fan the flames of controversy, in his next novel - by expanding on Dante's criticism of church leaders.
The Internet world is hot and piping with the exciting news. Every time a Twitter user tweeted '#DanBrownTODAY' a tiny piece of the puzzle appeared, until a mosaic was created spelling out "Inferno."
Like "The Da Vinci Code," which was based on theories about the allegedly secret history of the Mona Lisa, "Inferno" will examine the underlying meanings of Dante's poem as well as its influence on modern life.

"Although I studied 'Dante's Inferno' as a student, it wasn't until recently, while researching in Florence, that I came to appreciate the enduring influence of Dante's work on the modern world," Brown says.
"Inferno," or Italian for Hell is the first part of Dante Alighieri's 14th-century epic poem "The Divine Comedy." It is an allegory telling of the journey of Dante through Hell, guided by the Roman poet Virgil.
Hell is depicted in "Inferno"as nine circles of suffering located within the Earth. "The Divine Comedy" represents the journey of the soul towards God, with the Inferno describing the recognition and rejection of sin.
"With this new novel, I am excited to take readers on a journey deep into this mysterious realm . a landscape of codes, symbols, and more than a few secret passageways."
"When we turn the first page of a new Dan Brown novel, we step into a world that seamlessly infuses fascinating history, art, symbols and puzzles," Brown's editor Jason Kaufman says.
"In 'Inferno,' we have the added excitement of following Robert Langdon back to the heart of Europe, where he becomes entwined in a mystery that has global ramifications.'
Four million copies of Inferno will initially be published in the U.S., the U.K. and Canada on May 14.

Could it be that Dan Brown is wondering where he might end up?
I'am at my K of C 4th degree induction and I over hear Knights and a Priest talking how great of book ( The Di Vinci Code)this guy Brown wrote .When I confronted the Priest about the book all he said was what a great read it was ,I replied that he knew this silly tome will become the history of our Church to millions that have and will read it ,I told him that he knows people will not run out and get some Oxford History of the Catholic Church or something and read it Dan Brown's book will be our Church history to millions the Priest had no answer to me he could see I had a point .I was really surprise to hear Knights and wives talking up this book's baloney but the Priest took the cake.
The words of qualification "the author of the worldwide best seller"could have been avoided in the article. Should we catholics give such credence in articles by catholics in catholic media ?
The difference is that trash like this will disappear with time while the eternal words of Dante will last to eternity.
Gnostism & Dan brown is but getting into ones own mind into its corruptions to reflect its origin which is to the mind of satan all the while deceived into thinking that it is to the mind of Christ, for the simplicity of the mind of Christ is to its holiness which is a sanctuary that cannot be penetrated through the human mind which is to corruptions, to which reason was the Holy Spirit sent to know Christ by the Spirit which is to the Holiness. To the Apostasy & the Abomination prophesied in the Bible three events took place in the middle of this century all three planted & one of which, to the Apostasy prophesied to the falling away, was the finding of the Nag Hammadi codecies in Egypt which are the rejected Gospels of Gnostism to the present day works against the faith come in these various forms.
