The maiden Georgia, a native of Clermont, France, having resolved not to marry, withdrew into solitude to live as an anchoress. She spent the rest of her life almost continually praying in church. During her funeral procession, the faithful in attendance were amazed to see a large flock of doves hover over the cortege as it made its way to the church. After the procession entered the church doors, the birds settled upon the church's roof and remained there for the duration of the funeral being conducted within. The people considered this prodigy a sign of Georgia's favor with God.
